Great article, and I really appreciate it. I was lucky enough to have my husband’s good income from a steady, reliable job with good health benefits, so that I could stay home and raise my three kids, and then, grandkids. But at the same time, I did feel pressure, or societal condemnation for NOT WORKING. I really wish being a stay at home mom meant that you are, in fact, WORKING! Because it is a job! A hard job. I can’t tell you the number of times I heard “well, you don’t have any stress because you don’t work”……or, as one women said to me, “you must really enjoy being retired.” I did all those things. Tried selling MK, Avon, Home Interiors, Pampered Chef, Lia Sophia, etc…. It was never profitable enough for the time and energy spent doing it! lol.

Does the US population size, vs Germany, NZ, AUS, etc., pump up our stats or is that really a non-factor?

No for comparisons we'd just use shares, that normalize population differences.
