What is Kedits?

The U.S. economy has incredible strength and some deep structural problems. I use this newsletter to talk about both: explaining the economy and offering solutions to improve it.

Many people in economics write to show how smart they are, but I like to write to show how smart you are. Economics is big, and nuanced, and there’s never one single right answer; but it’s not hard.

My goal in writing Kedits isn’t to persuade, but to inform. I want to empower readers to feel like they can understand what’s going on in the economy and feel optimistic that it can be better.

Who are you?

I wear a lot of hats.

I’m a Ph.D. economist, Kathryn Anne Edwards. For many years I worked at the RAND Corporation, which is a consulting think tank that is hired to solve public policy problems. I left RAND to start my own policy and research business, and I’m a proud to run my own shop.

I’m also a working writer and columnist for Bloomberg and have one foot in the Bloomberg media ecosystem, sometimes appearing on radio, TV, or live data releases to comment on economic news.

But you probably know me as keds_economist, my social media handle on Twitter, Bluesky, TikTok, Instagram, and Youtube. As keds, I make videos and posts explaining the economy and policy.

Is this free?

Yes, Kedits is free.

I accept subscriptions, which I’m grateful for. Writing posts takes time. I don’t post with high frequency, but I try to always post thoughtfully and deliberately. If you want to show your support, I’m happy to take it.
